Permanent committee in congress that oversees bills that deal with certain kinds of issues
Standing committee
Made up of two houses. The Senate and House of Representatives.
Bicameral Legislature
Group with a standing committee thats specializes in a subcategory of its atanding committee’s responsibility
Sub committee
A temporary committee formed to study one specific issue and report its findings to the senate or the house of representatives
Select community
A committee of the house and the senate that usually acts as a study group and reports its findings back to the house and senate
Joint committee
A temporary joint committee set up when the house in the senate has passed different versions of the same bill
Conference committee
The system that gives the member of the majority party with the longest un interupted service on a particular committee the leadership of that committee
Seniority system
A period of time during which a legislature meets to conduct business.
