Define kingdom of heaven or kingdom of God
The spiritual kingdom through all of Gods creation.
Jesus taught the disciples how to pray. He started with “ Our Father…” Why is this so radical?
Because Jesus used the word “abba,” an Aramaic word meaning “father” or “our father,” the people never used Aramaic to pray before.
Define parable
Parable is a phrase of meaning to help an audience relate to the topic of the story.

What’s the main message?
The main message is: God takes our shame and makes it into honour
What are events, their cultural significance, and the spiritual meaning?
- Father ran to his son, landowners never ran it was inappropriate, schemed himself for his son to have honour
- sine asked for inheritance, the son was giving a death threat to the father, the father gave it, instead of beating or throwing his son out.
- father placed a ring, new Robeson and had a meal for the son, gave his son honour, used a covering for shame( Jesus’s blood)
- son worked for a of farmer, stooped to the lowest, pigs are dirty, would not have been a Jewish farmer
- father left the party, hosts were seen as shameful to leave the party, father shamed himself for his eldest son

Define miracle
A supernatural occurring event, where something that normally doesn’t happen does happen
Jesus’ interaction with people
How was this group treated?why was this group despised? What did Jesus do?
Samaritans:
- Jews disliked the Samaritans. Jews would walk all the way around Samaria when travelling.
- they were despised, because they were “half-breeds”
- Jesus spoke to a Samaritan woman, he asked her for water and wanted to use the same jar as her, then he told her about her life.
Tax collectors:
- they were seen as thieves, dirty people. People would refuse to pay.
- they were despised, because they took extra money then what was needed
- (ex. Zacchaeus) Jesus are with tax collectors and went to their homes
Women:
- they were treated very lowly.
- they were despised, because they weren’t as important as men
- Jesus had meals with women, treated all women with respect and honour.
Jesus’s last week( where and what he did)
First Friday: Bethany, met with Lazarus, Mary, and Martha
First Sunday: Jerusalem, rode a donkey into Jerusalem, people sang.
Monday: Jerusalem, temple, Jesus flipped tables and drive out all the people selling animals in the temple
Tuesday: temple, mount of olives, taught the people, told of his death and resurrection
Thursday: Jerusalem, last supper
Last Friday: Golgotha, Jesus is crucified then put in a tomb.
Last Sunday: Golgotha, Jesus rose from the dead!
What pictures/ structures in the OT did Jesus come to fulfill in the new kingdom? Give a verse from the NT that testifies that Jesus is that now for us.

Parable: hidden treasure
Cultural significance:
1. Treasure was owned by who ever owned the land
2. Treasures were protected from foreign armies
3. To own the treasure- buy the whole land
Spiritual significance:
What do I need to give up to gain the kingdom of God/ heaven?
1. My will, my plans, my rights
2. My control, my way, my choice, pride, my self-righteous
Parable: the unmerciful servant
Cultural significance:
- Debt- dependent on others to cancel it
- If you couldn’t pay, you were thrown into prison
- The amount Jesus used with impossible to get( humour- audience would have laughed)
- Greek word change
