Rhythm worth 1 beat of silence.
What is the 4/4 Time Signature?
4 beats per measure.
A quarter note is worth 1 beat.
What are Intervals?
The distance between 2 pitches.
What are Melodic Intervals? (Unison to Octave)
Two pitches of an interval that are played independently. (One at a time)
Unison (two pitches are the same pitch), 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, octave two pitches are 8 spaces away from each other
What are Harmonic Intervals? (Unison to Octave)
Two pitches of an interval are played simultaneously. (At the same time)

What are Dynamics?
Symbols that indicate the volume of the music.
What does Piano mean?
Dynamic symbol which indicates a soft volume. (p)
What does Mezzo Forte mean?
Dynamic symbol which indicates a moderately loud volume. (mf)
What does Forte mean?
Dynamic symbol which indicated a loud volume. (f)
What are the Primary Chords of C Major?
C chord: C E G, “C”
G7 chord: B F G, “G”
F chord: C F A, “F”
What is a Half Rest?
Rhythm worth 2 beats of silence.
What are Tied Notes? (Remember: Tied Notes are different from Slurred Notes)
Two pitches connected by a curved line – these connected pitches are the same pitch.
Played on the piano by combining the rhythm of the two pitches. – quarter note tied to a quarter note is played for the same length as a half note.
What are Slurred Notes? (Remember: Slurred Notes are different from Tied Notes)
Two pitches connected by a curved line – these connected pitches are different pitches/notes. Slurred notes are played on the piano by connecting the notes with as little separation as possible.
What is the 3/4 Time Signature?
3 beats per measure
Quarter note is worth one beat
What is a Dotted Half Note?
A half note with a dot after it. It is worth 3 beats of sound.
