Easy to work with
Can be cast into intricate shapes
It is relatively corrosion resistant
Can be machined easily
What is Mild Steel made from?
An alloy of Iron and Carbon
It has a carbon content of 0.15 -0.3%
Describe the properties of Mild Steel
Easy to work with
Easy to cut, machine, heated or hammered into shape
But cannot be heat treated
Will rust - has to be galvanised or plastic coated to protect it from rusting

Is very versatile

It is a prone to rusting as it is ferrous therefore has to be painted or galvanised to prevent rusting.
