Government
Any group of people living together in a country, state, city or local community that have to live by certain rules
Democracy
Everyone has decision power (USA)
Direct Democracy
Everyone gets a vote in every major decision, works for small governments, ruled by all citizens (Switzerland)
Indirect/Representative Democracy
Fair election to represent citizens/country, ruled by one(USA)
Oligarchy
A small group of people who have power based social class or race (Historic South Africa when on white people lead when mass population was black)
Autocracy
1 person has all the power (Dictatorship, Monarchy) (Adolf Hitler)
Monarchy
King or queen rules and next ruler is in the family line, autocracy (UK)
Constitutional Monarchy vs. Absolute
Constitutional: Shares power with government and follows constitution, limits on power
Absolute: Has all power, autocracy
Dictatorship
1 leader has absolute control of citizens’ life autocracy (North Korea)
Anarchy
nobody is in control, no present government (Chinese Period of Dissunion)
Theocracy
Recognizes God or a divine being as the ultimate authority, religious law is to solve disputes [Iran(also has democracy)]
Tribe
Collection of families ruled primarily by male but sometimes female (Native Americans)
Matriarchal
Leaded/Ruled by a female
Patriarchal
Leaded/Ruled by a male
