Fossil
The preserved remains or traces of a living thing
Can be hard parts or soft parts
Mold
A type of fossil formed when something was pressed into soft mud leaving a hollow space
Cast
A type of fossil that forms if the mold is later filled with mud which hardens

An energy-rich resource formed from the buried remains of once-living organisms
Examples: coal, oil, natural gas
