What does extra chromosome 18 cause?
- causes mental and physical abilities.
- most babies born with it die.
What is nural tube defect? and what does it cause?
problem with the brain or spinal cord.
- mental disabilities
- problems walking
What is prenatal screening?
- comes from ultrasounds and blood sample
- negative screen means risk is under the threshold
- positive screen means over threshold, baby may be at risk (only small chance baby will be affected)
What are the different types of prenatal testing?
- ultra sound between weeks 11-13
- blood sample btwn weeks 12-13 and weeks 14-15.
