what does baumberg say about the benifits stigma

A

Analysed 6600 national press articles between 1995-2011.found an extraordinarily disproportionate focus on benefit fraud. 0.7% of all benefit claims are fraudulent. Common words used to describe benefits are- fraud, dishonesty, dependency, non-reciprocity, outsider status. Media portray them as scrounging on the welfare state and on the edge of becoming a criminal. This reflects new right views on a underclass lifestyle.
