What do critical thinkers entail?
Raise questions, inquisitive, open minded, aquire new knowledge, willing to search for answers, multiple perspectives, and explores ideas in new ways.
What is the nursing process?
Use critical thinking to make decisions about patient care. Facilitates informed ethical nursing practice and offers a guide to care.
What is ADPIE?
A- assessment (Gather and analyze info about the patient, can be objective or subjective data, you cluster data (groups with like things) and validate to ensure accuracy and document).
D- diagnosis (problem related to reason).
P- planning (set patient centred goal that is SMART, occurs from initial meeting to ongoing to discharge of patient, nursing interventions chosen to resolve patients problem).
I- implementation (act on nursing interventions, but first reassess pt. and organize resource and anticipate/prevent complications).
E- evaluation (is nursing care effective or any changes occur in pt., its ongoing, if not then revise plan of care, goal can be met, partially met, or not met).
What does SMART stand for?
S- specific
M- measurable
A- attainable
R- Realistic
T- timely
Used for patient goals in planning phase of ADPIE.
What are the 4 types of diagnosis?
1- problem focused
2- risk
3- health promotion
4- syndrome
What is Maslows hierarchy of needs?
Top to bottom. Physiological needs (air, water food, clothes), safety needs (personal security, health, employment), love and belonging (friendship, intimacy, family, sense of connection), esteem (respect, status, freedom), and self-actualization (desire to become the most that one can be).
What is the order of priorities/important needs in the planning stage of ADPIE?
- ABCs, high on the list
- Non emergent, middle on list
- Low, what affects future well being
