Unit 1- Cells Flashcards
What does an animal cell contain?
Cell membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus
What does a plant cell and an animal cell contain?
Cell membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus
What does the nucleus do?
It contains genes, which control the cell. The nucleus is made of DNA
What does the cytoplasm do?
Chemical reaction like reparation happen here. It also contain organelles
What does the cell membrane do
It lets some substances into the cell, and keeps others out
What does the cell wall do?
It makes a rigid box which supports the cell
What does the vacuole do?
It stores sugar and the cell fill the cell wall
What dose the chloroplast do?
Photosynthesis happens here
What is mitochondrion do?
Respiration (releasing energy from glucose)
Muscle cell use a lot of mitochondrion
If a cell releases on diffusion the whole time what happens
It only get half the things it needs
What does a plant cell contain?
Cell wall, cell membrane, chloroplast, vacuole, nucleus, cytoplasm
What is the definition of diffusion?
This is the net movement of the particles from an area of higher concentration to an area of low concentration
What is the definition of osmosis
This is the net movement of the water molecules across a partially permeable membrane from a region of higher water concentration to a region of low water concentration
What is it called when H2O go out the cell
Plasmolyzed
What is it called when some H2O come out the cell and it go in the cell as well
Flaccid
