42
Explain the meaning and importance in Luke 10:25-37 (The Good Samaritan) of love of others. (10.1.8)
Meaning: -Christians need to show love to everyone, not just friends -Sometimes the one you need to love the most is your enemy, which can be difficult -For the ill or less well off it could mean their life or death -What God wants so everyone is cared for and no one suffers Importance: -Shows who is a person's neighbour: everyone, including enemies -By loving your neighbour you are doing what God wants -Reassures Christians that loving neighbours is not as easy as loving yourself, but they need to try and do it -Shows your neighbour is anyone in need of compassion, despite race and religion
43
Explain the meaning and importance in Matthew 25:31-46 (The Sheep and the Goats) of love of others. (10.1.8)
Story: -Would separate people like a shepherd separated his sheep from goats -Sheep would be those who helped Jesus in His time of need -People will say they never did this, but Jesus said whatever they do for someone suffering, they do for Him, therefore allowing them into heaven -Goats did not do these for other people so did not do them for Jesus. As they did not love others, they will go to hell Meaning: -Christians need to show love to everyone, especially those in need -By showing love for others you're showing love for God -People will be judged by god by the way they act, treat others, and spend their time -Love of others is what God wants, so everyone is cared for and no one suffers -As Jesus is not bound in time or place (due to resurrection), in the needy it is Christ himself appealing to us through the person Importance: -Showing love for others is showing love to God which is the greatest commandment -Explains loving others means caring for all the needy -Loving your neighbour is important and what God wants -Shows there is a reward for caring for the suffering: eternal life in heaven with God -Shows people who choose no to help those in need will be punished

47
