A family structure where the mother leaves the workforce to take care of her young children

Meeting the emotional needs of family members
Arranged Marriage
When 2 families negotiate an agreement about the marriage of their son or daughter to each other
Significance - ensure their child’s financial security and reinforce social ties
Blended family
A family in which divorced partners with children remarry
Significance - provide children with a greater number of responsible and loving adults in their lives
Conjugal relationship
A legitimate sexual relationship or marriage
Significance - The relationship between the spouses is highly important in conjugal families
Consanguinity
When a person is related to another person by blood
Significance - increases the likelihood that a child will inherit two copies of the same deleterious
Dual income family
A family in which both spouses work full time
Significance - Each contribute to the financial support of their household
Extended family
When young adults continue to live in their parents household after they are married
Significance - Provide stability and continuity in their childrens lives
Family wage
The salary earned by males who were the sole providers from the 19th to about the mid-20th centuries
Significance - the man’s wage should support his wife and their children
