what are essential nutrients:
essential for life and must be consumed
what are functional foods :
foods that provides more than simple nutrition
what are non-nutrient substances:
phytochemical: natural chemicals found in plant foods that may provide some health benefits
zoochemicals: are natural chemicals found in animals that may provides some health benefits
what are the chemical nature of nutrients?
inorganic nutrients: contain no carbon atoms

organic nutrients: contain carbon atoms
-macronutrients and viramines
what measured is use for energy ?
energy is measured in kilojoules (kj) or kilocalories(kcal)

the energy content of food depends upon the amount of carbohydrates,fat and protein it contains
