Unique Australia unit- Photosynthesis and cellular respiration Flashcards
What is photosynthesis?
Photosynthesis is the process by which plants, some bacteria, and some protists use the energy from sunlight to produce sugar (glucose).
Factors affecting photosynthesis?
The rate at which plants can make food (the photosynthesis) is dependent on the environment. Some factors have a greater effect than others. These include:
the amount of light available.
the level of carbon dioxide (CO2).
the temperature.
What is cellular respiration?
Cellular respiration the process by which organisms break down energy rich molecules, such as sugar, releasing energy.
This happens in the cell’s mitochondria.
Aerobic respiration vs anaerobic?
Aerobic requires oxygen
Anaerobic does not require oxygen.
