Scots began to question their British identity and had a growing sense of Scottish identity…
partly because they were angry at how the British government handled Scottish economic problems and industrial decline after the war.
After the war there were a number of attempts to make Scots feel more ‘involved’ and part of the UK as a whole.
For example the Scottish Office part of the UK government was relocated from Westminster in London to Edinburgh.
Some criticise the UK Govs decision to move the Scottish Office to Edinburgh
They believe the office was only moved to strengthen links at the union just a few years after SNP was founded - a party whose intention was to break the union.
