The auteur and the entertainer are the 2 different focuses/goals a music artist has and it is important for someone who is helping an artist to understand which one they are aiming towards.
The auteur is
the artist creates and performs for their own benefit, to continue growing their art
The entertainer is
the artist focuses on gaining and reaching as large of an audience as possible.
