Q

Provide 3 rationale for the SDGs

A
  • BECAUSE new goals were needed when Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) ended in 2015
  • BECAUSE there was uneven progress across regions and countries e.g. females, rural/remote left behind
  • BECAUSE new global challenges had emerged e.g. increasing natural disasters, climate change, mass migration, conflict

Q

Justify the importance of the SDG objective ‘to address climate change’

A

BECAUSE climate change has emerged as one of the most significant issues of our time; all living things rely on the environment for basic resources and climate change (e.g. rising sea levels, changing weather patterns, extreme weather events) have the potential to destroy these resources e.g. crops/food supply.
