What are the clinical presentations of duodenal ulcers? (3)
Pain relieved by meal + antacids
Melena
Pain wakes pt up during the night
When does the pain occur in duodenal ulcers?
2-3 hours after meal (may cause wt gain)
Are duodenal ulcer malignant?
Not malignant
What causes gastric ulcers?
Decreased mucosal resistance
What are the clinical presentations of gastric ulcers? (2)
Pain increased by meal, not relieved by antacids
Vomiting (coffee ground)
When does the pain occur in gastric ulcers?
30mins - 1hr after meal, esp fatty foods (may cause at loss)
