Removing roots and vines from the railroad tracks, to then remove the metal rails

That she wanted to run away, but have her “heartthrob” meet up with her

Because she knows that she is a spy sent to destroy everything that Shay and David and all the others are there doing, and she doesn’t want to betray her friends
How has living in The Smoke changed Tally’s view of what is beautiful?
She is able to forget her troubles, and she is seeing nature as it was intended to be, not “operated on” for beauty
What does David suggest they do to the trees growing around the railroad tracks? What does Tally suggest they do instead?
David wants to use vibrasaws to cut them down. Tally suggests to “cut around them” instead.
Why is Croy suspicious of Tally’s story?
He has figured out that the amount of food that she shows up with doesn’t equate the amount of days that she claims to have been walking.

Because her hands are just as raw and calloused as everyone else’s, and now that Tally has arrived, David doesn’t talk to Shay as much as he did before she got there.
Why does Tally feel like she is a “walking poison” and a “weed?”
She feels as if she is harming all of her friends and people that she encounters, like the white flowers or poison.
Why does David think Tally is brave?
He admires her for coming all this way, and he thinks that she has done it because she cares so deeply for Shay.
How are Tally’s feelings for David changing her opinion of Uglies?
She is learning to accept people for their hearts, not simply on how they look on the outside.
Who does David want Tally to meet?
His parents
Why is Tally surprised that David calls his parents mom and dad instead of by their first names?
Because she has been accustomed to calling her parents by their first names, and because that is the custom in Uglyville and New Pretty City.
Why is Tally surprised that David looks like Az, his father?
Because of their age difference
