How can I hear a cadential 6/4?
If the soprano line is 3-2-1 or 1-7-1.
Or when a bassline is 5-5-1

When the bassline functions like a passing tone.
If the soprano or bass is voice exchanging 1-2-3 and 3-2-1….the 6/4 chord is…and some examples are… (Isn’t in a cadence too)
Then you most likely have passing 6/4 chord.

Part writing tip: If you see an arpeggio in the bass, it doesn’t have to be in order of 1-3-5, but you can still use an arpeggiated 6/4 chord
