poverty
poverty is a term commonly used to describe the lack of access to resources as a result of a lack of access to money.

extreme poverty
living in less than US $1.90 per day
GDP (gross domestic product)
a measure that reflects the economic state of a country. GDP is the value of all goods and services produced in a country in a 12-month period.
PPP- purchasing power parity
which provides a way to compare countries that have different currencies and costs of living.
PPP takes a range of factors:
-average income and the cost of living, to provide a standard comparable currency.
PPP is often expressed in US dollars (US$) or as international dollars (PPP$), which is a theoretical currency.
GNI (Gross national income per capita)
the total value of goods and services a country’s citizens produce, including the value of income earned by citizens who may be working in an overseas country
relative poverty
those living on less than 50 per cent of their country’s average income.

how is poverty measured
poverty is measured through GNI which has two areas of interest. that is relative and extreme poverty.
adequate housing poverty
poverty can prevent people in low income countries from accessing adequate housing due to an inability to afford proper housing. As a result individuals or families will resort to living in slums. promoting the spread of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis increasing morbidity rates.
nutritious foods poverty
undernutritioned is often the result of an inability to afford nutritous foods, this can decrease immune function
