Occurs when the group experience life events together and there is a shared investment in the lives of others

Integration may include rituals or a formal welcome into a group to fully feel accepted within the group

shared rules set by a specific group to guide behaviour, rules are put in place that align with the expectations of a culture, and dictate what appropriate behaviour is

Acculturation
Keeping the core values and ideas from the original culture while abiding by the rules of the adopted culture

Adapting or fitting into a new culture completely

Where individuals from many cultures co-exist and live together by one set of rules for all

pluralism
Where 2 or more cultures co-exists, each holland on to their own set of rules, traditions and rituals but both are in the same geographical location

cultural diversity
The many cultural, racial and ethnic groups that exists within a society

racism
Discrimination against individuals based solely on their race

implicit racism
Negative actions towards members of a different cultural group that are covert and often unconscious or concealed

explicit racism
Negative actions towards members of a particular cultural group that are overt (out-loud)

Mutual interdependence
When two group must rely on each other to successfully complete a task which can increase the trust between the groups

Equality
The two different groups have the sample level and amount of power, no one group must have more power than the other, it can reduce prejudice as the groups are able to exert the same influence over the other

Reconditioning
Teaches people about the misconceptions in their bias thoughts
define
Norms
Teach people by making them aware of the fact that their prejudices are not normal
define
Accountablity
Involves holding someone accountable for their behaviour and letting them know they are acting in a discriminatory way
