A

Smoking as when a substance is burned and the resulting smoke is inhaled to be tasted and absorbed into the bloodstream.
Increases the risk of
- CVD (40% smoking related mortality)
- Many forms of cancer (lung, stomach, kidney, pancreas)

Alcohol consumption?

A

Alcohol misuse relates to the excessive consumption of alcohol and incudes alcoholism and binge drinking. Alcoholism refers to when an individual cant stop drinking alcohol e.g. they drink every night. Binge drinking is when males drink more then 7 drinks in one sitting and females drink more then 5 drinks in one sitting.
Affects health status:
- Mortality - Cancer (lung, throat and mouth), high risk accidents
- Morbidity - fertility in females, weight gain
