one piece flow strategy involves operations process focusing on one good / service at a time

pull strategy involves production of good or service only starting when customer places an order. customer order ‘pulls’ at production system with their demand

- a strategy to create rhythm where all steps in production of good or service synchronize to create continous flow

- involves striving for perfection by continously improving until operation process achives zero defects

PULL - toyota produces vehicles in response to customer orders preventing over production / reduce inventory
ONE PIECE FLOW - single unit goes through entire production process one at a time so customers are provided with Toyota vehicles in shortest time possible
TAKT - vehicle production sequence is coordinated so that time for body pressing is same as welding or painting meaning all processes move in perfect sequence with no bottlenecks
ZERO DEFECTS - employees required to check & test parts of vehicle at every stage of production. Any defects found problem then traced to its cause and error is fixed to prevent it from happening again.
