Describe how social exclusion is a cause of crime
-this means that the person is unable to participate in the same activities as the rest of society, this could be financially, physically, emotionally or environmentally, making them an outcast
Give an example of social exclusion
-2018 Scottish crime and justice survey found people experiencing social exclusion were 18% more likely to be involved in criminal activity, the stronger the deprivation the stronger the link
Describe how peer pressure causes crime
-a person commits an act out of character in order to impress a group

-the daily record newspaper survey found that 90% of Scots admitted to being peer pressured
Describe how a lack of role models causes crime
-not having a positive influence in a person to encourage good behaviour can lead to involvement in criminal activity as they don’t have guidance

-BBC knife offenders found that 27,000 children in England considered themselves to be in a gang, 6560 children were known by youth offending teams/child services to be involved in gangs
