Ethnic Groups In Myanmar
1-20 MAJOR ethnic groups in Myanmar but their are many more (135 are recognised by Myanmar)
2-Myanmars military has been in conflict w ethnic groups since independence EG: Rohingya
3-Smaller ethnic groups given lmid rights/freedom - Increased drug trafficking to raise funds
The Rohingya
1- Unrecognised ethnic minority in the “Rakhine state” W a pop of 1.4m
2- Predominately Muslim an cultural minority in Myanmar (Primary religion is Buddhism)
3-1982 Citizenship X recognise the “Rohingya” as one of the 135 official ethnic groups but “illegal migrants”.
Evidence of Ethnic cleaning through “Mistreatment of Citizens”
1- Out of the 204 interviews of Rohingya refugees there was a report of 44% partispaits haven been beaten,47% Reporting that a family member had been murdered & 45% Reported a family member has disappeared.

3-By the end of 2017 a reported 6700 Rohingya had been killed 730 being children under 5.
