Legislative Assembly
A
- Comprised of:
- 88 members in the assembly
- elected for four years
- Roles:
- Forms Government
- Holds government accountable (the Opposition)
- Introduce and pass proposed laws
- Represent the people’s interests when debating/making laws

A
- Comprised of:
- Eight regions in Victoria elect five members
- 40 members in the council
- Roles:
- Review bills that the Legislative Assembly has passed
- Introduce and pass proposed laws

Subordinate Authorities
A
- Parliament doesn’t have the time/resources to make all the laws required for social cohesion
- This causes both parliaments to delegate lawmaking power to subordinate authorities which can make minor laws
- Known as delegated/subordinate legislation
- E.g. Local councils (pets, rubbish, parking)/VicRoads (roads and traffic)
