A
- A term used to describe the willingness of members of a society to cooperate with each other in order to survive and prosper

A
- People can work and improve their education
- Individuals feel a sense of acceptance and belonging
- Active and effective participation in government and community organisations by community members
- The legal system treats individuals equally and promotes accessibility

How does the law promote social cohesion?
A
- Set up guidelines for what is acceptable
- Create boundaries to protect individuals
- establish the ‘rule of law’ (the principle that everyone in society is bound by and must obey the law)
- Federal acts (the Fair Work Act (2009), the Disability Discrimination Act (1992), the Racial Discrimination Act (1975))

How can individuals promote social cohesion?
A
- By following the law (e.g. business owners not exploiting workers, landlords ensuring properties are safe for tenants, individuals not undertaking behaviour or actions that could harm or infringe upon the rights of others)

- By ensuring that institutions exist to effectively create, implement, and enforce the law (e.g. parliament, police, courts, sanctions)
