Types of validity Flashcards
Face validity
is a measure of whether it looks subjectively promising that t tool measures what it’s supposed to
Internal validity
da measure of whether results obtaines are solely affected by changes in the IV variable being manipulated in cause and effect relationship
How can internal validity be assessed ?
- assesed on whether extraneous variables > the greater the control of variables the greater the confidence that cause and effect relevant to the construct being investigated found
External validity
is a measure of whether data can be generalised to other situations outside of the research environment
What are the two types of external validity?
Temporal validity
Ecological validity
Temporal validity
this is high wheb research findings successfully apply across time
Ecological validity
whether data is generaliseable to the real world, based on the conditions research is conducted under and procedures involved.
