What is fartlek training?

A
  • A continuous form of training
  • changes of speed, incline and terrain throughout provides change in intensity of exercise
  • Can be both aerobic and anaerobic
    DISADVANTAGE: some areas have little incline and different terrain

A
  • periods of intense work followed by timed rest
  • structured in reps and sets
  • high intensity: 80-90% max HR
    ADVANTAGE: equipment isn’t essential
    DISADVANTAGE: can be too difficult for beginner athletes.

    ADVANTAGE: massively improves components of fitness of speed and power
    DISADVANTAGE: can cause injury easily if athletes are not in excellent condition
