Types of Production Flashcards
What is one-off production?
When a product is made one at a time. Making these products is very time consuming and labour intensive. The cost of these products are high.
What is batch production?
Products that are made in small batches. Little machinery is used and it is mostly labour intensive.
What is mass production?
Products that are made in high volumes. Some machinery is used but multiple workers are still involved. The price of the product and type can range.
What is continuous flow?
Products that are made in overwhelmingly high volumes. Production line runs 24/7 as it is mostly run by machinery. Factories that use this production type are found in developing countries.
What is Just in Time production (JiT)?
Products that are made on a time schedule. This is so raw materials can arrive on the exact time of production so they can be manufactured and distributed as soon as possible.
