Types of Practice & Feedback Flashcards
Massed practice is…
The continuous repetition of a skill with little to no rest. Often closed and discrete - suited to those EXPERIENCED WITH A SKILL.
Distributed Practice is….
Practice divided by periods of rest (10 mins on, 2 mins off). Recommended for COGNITIVE LEARNERS.
Blocked practice is…
Focusing on a single skill at a time - 20 minutes of forehands, 20 minutes of serves and 20 minutes of backhands for tennis.
Recommended for COGNITIVE or ASSOCIATIVE.
Random practice is…
Unpredictable sequence of skills to perform - thus more open in their execution.
Better suited to ASSOCIATIVE or AUTONOMOUS learners.
What is intrinsic feedback? Give two examples.
Performer uses their own sense to judge, like feeling a ball hit a sweet spot, seeing the basketball shot go in, feeling nice fluid movements.
