What are examples of Fundamental Motor Skills (FMS)?
Running, jumping, hopping, throwing, hitting, catching, etc.
FMS are the building blocks of movement. These are refined and tweaked to form what sort of skills?

Define fine motor skills and give two sporting examples of these.
Use small muscle groups to produce small movements.
Golf putt, darts throw, pistol shooting.
Define gross motor skills and give two sporting examples of these.
Use large muscle groups to perform large movements.
Golf drive, basketball shot, cricket bowl, baseball bat.
What is the name of a skill that has no defineable beginning or end - it can seemingly go on and on?
Continuous skill.
What name is given to a skill that has a clear beginning and end?
Discrete.
Name two examples of continuous skills.
Running, swimming, cycling, dancing.
Define a closed skill.
A skill performed with predictable surroundings where you can control the timing.
Define an open skill.
A skill performed in an unpredictable environment where you need to react to the timing.
Which would be a more open skill - handballing an AFL ball in practice without defenders or receiving a tennis serve in practice? Why?
Tennis serve - need to react to the server, direction of the ball and still hit it back. The AFL handball has no defenders, and you’re in charge of the timing of the handball.
