layout paper
think translucent paper with a smooth surface
used in sketching, technical drawing and tracing
cartridge paper
Off-white paper with a slightly textured surface
used in sketching, pencil renders, and pastel
Tracing paper
translucent paper, thicker than layout paper
used for copying images when sketching
Bleed-proof paper
similar to cartridge paper but bleed proof prevents colours from running
used in spirit based marker rendering
Treated paper
Plain paper with a clear binder or dye layer to help hold an imagine onto the papers surface
used in photographic printing
Watercolour paper
absorbent with a smooth (hot pressed variant) or textured (cold pressed) surface
used in watercolour painting
Corrugated card
carton board layers with a corrugated middle layer which improves impact resistance and protects the contents
used in packaging, model making, takeaway boxes ect
Bleached card
chemically treated card with a brightened surface
used in high quality printing for cards and packaging
Mount board
compressed cotton fibres made into a rigid board
used in mounting pictures and presenting artwork
Duplex card
two layered paper with a waxy layer to give a water resistance and glossy surface
used in food packaging, milk cartons ect
Foil backed/Laminated card
card with a polymer or foil layer to make it water resistant or a better insulator
drinks packaging, cartons, take away boxes
Metal effect card
card with a metal effect layer to improve the aesthetics for gift boxes, packaging ect
Moulded paper pulp
recycled paper pulp dried around a mould. has a rough outer texture and smooth inner texture
used in eco products, egg boxes ect
