What is Flexion?
Decreasing the angle of a joint
What is Extension?
Increasing the angle of a joint
What is Abduction?
Movement of a limb away from the body
What is Adduction?
Movement of a limb towards the midline of the body
What is Rotation?
Turning a limb along its long axis
What is Circumduction?
A continuous circular movement of a limb around a joint which goes through 2 places of movement
What is Plantarflexion?
Movement at the ankle where the toes are pointed towards the ground
What is Dorsiflexion?
Movement at the ankle where the toes are pulled up towards the knee
What is an isometric contraction?
A contraction where the muscle stays the same length
What is a concentric contraction?
A contraction where the muscle shortens as it contracts
