What is joint elevation?
Joint elevation means lifting up
What is joint depression?
Joint depression is going downwards
What is joint protraction?
Joint protraction is moving/thrusting forwards.
What is joint retraction?
Joint retraction is moving/going back.
Describe medial and lateral rotation.
Medial rotation is rotation inwards towards the body.
Lateral rotation is rotation outwards from the body.
Describe inversion and eversion?
Eversion of the plantar is when the bottom of the foot is facing away from the body. (think evade)
Inversion of the plantar is when the bottom of the foot is facing towards the body. (think invade)
Describe pronation and supination.
Pronation is the back of the hand is facing upwards and the palm of the hands is facing downwards.
Supination is the back of the hand facing downwards and the palms of the hand facing up.
Describe circumduction.
Circumduction is when your arms are outstretched and moving in a circular motion.
Describe abduction and adduction.
Abdution is pulling away from the midline or axial of the body
Adduction is moving towards the midline or axial of the body. (think adding to the body)
Describe dorsal flexation and plantar flexation.
Dorsal flexation of the foot is when the toes point upwards
Plantar flexation of the foot is when the toes point downwards.
Describe flexation and extension.
Entension is when the angle between two bones becomes more obtuse.
Flexation is when the angle between two bones becomes more acute.
