What is an acute injury?
Occurs suddenly during activity
Explain the 4 types of acute injury
Fracture - a break, usually in a bone
Dislocation - occurs when there is abnormal separation in the joint
Strains - an injury to a muscle or tendon
Sprains - An injury to a ligament containing bones
What is a chronic injury?

Explain 3 types of chronic injuries
Achilles tendonitis - Occurs when the tendon that attaches the gastrocnemius muscle to the heel becomes painful or inflamed due to overuse injury
Stress fracture - small crack in a bone, or severe bruising within a bone caused by overuse and repetitive activity
Tennis elbow - Overuse injury causing pain around the outside of the elbow
