Explain Popular Sovereignty.
People are the source of the government’s power.
Explain Separation of Powers.
Dividing the government into branches; each having their own duties. This ensures that not one branch becomes too powerful.
Explain Federalism.
The division of power between a federal (national) government and states.
Explain Checks and Balance.
Allocating certain powers of one branch over the other two. This is done to all three branches. This ensures that not one branch becomes too powerful.
Explain Limited Government.
Ensuring that the government only practices the powers given to it in the Constitution. Also, stating that all citizens; even government officials; must obey the laws.
Explain Republicanism.
Ensuring that representatives are elected by citizens who are suppose to carry out the will of those citizens.
Explain Individual Rights.
Ensuring that the Constitution protects the rights of individual citizens.

All states should work together as a unified nation.

Everyone should be treated equally and fairly under the law.
What does “Ensure Domestic Tranquility” mean?
The government has the responsibility to provide peace with-in our country.

The government has the responsibility to protect citizens from foreign countries.

The government has the responsibility to improve the well-being of the citizens.

The government should protect the rights and freedoms of citizens.

Autocracy.
What is the difference between a representative democracy and a direct democracy?
Representative Democracy-citizens elect representatives.
Direct Democracy-citizens make governmental decision themselves; no representatives.
