Exploded drawings
3D drawings that show each separate part moved out as if the object has been exploded
Sectional drawings
These show what the product would look like inside if you cut it in two
Self assembly drawings
Used on instructions that come with flat pack furniture, these are often exploded drawings so you can assemble it yourself
Sequential drawings
Using pictures and few words to give instructions on how to do something
Feedback loops (flow chart)
Found on flow charts, these show you how to fix a problem when something isn’t right, with an arrow sending you to a different area of the chart
Scale drawings
Used to draw big things smaller (or vice versa) by scaling it down (or up) 1:1 means the same size
Isometric drawing
Show an object at 30° usually done on grid paper
Orthographic drawings
Shows the 2D views of a 3D object
3rd angle orthographic projection
This is the front view, plan view and side view of an object
