clear liquid diet
-Temporarily used for residents with vomiting or diarrhea following surgery
-Must be “see through”
-Ex: Broth, Gelatin, Cear soda, Juice
Full liquid diet
-Recovering from an illness
-May be used longer than clear liquid diet
-May be used for those with digestive disorders, difficulty swallowing, or those advancing from clear liquid diet
-Not see through liquid
-At room temperature
Ex: Sherbet, eggnog, plain yogurt, yogurt,
Soft diet
-For those with difficulty swallowing (dysphagia)
-For those with difficulty chewing or digesting food
Diabetic diet
-For diabetic residents and reduced calorie diet for weight loss
-Avoid sugars
-Carbs are restricted
Low sodium diet
-For residents with congestive heart failure, hypertension, blood vessel, or kidney disease
Bland diet
-Ordered for digestive disorders
-May be used temporarily for residents with diarrhea
