Nominal data.

A
  • least precise.
  • catergorical or qualitative (e.g. Sex, favourite colour, etc).
  • no sense of order.
  • frequency or percentages.
  • cannot calculate a mean.
  • most commonly a column chart, also pie chart or bar chart.

Ordinal data.

A
  • e.g. Variables (rank, satisfaction, etc).
  • have a meaningful order, but the intervals between the values in the scale may not be equal.
  • can be given as frequencies.
  • column or bar chart.

Interval/ratio.

A
  • most precise level of measurement.
  • e.g. Number of customers, weight, age and size.
  • also known as scale, quantative or parametric.
  • can be discrete with whole numbers or continuous with fractional numbers.
  • has a mean, median and mode.
  • bar chart or histogram, box plot or line chart.
  • ONLY type of data that mean can be calculated from.
