What is conformity
A
A change in a persons behaviour or opinions as a result of real or imagined pressure from a person or group of people

What is internalisation
A
A deep type of conformity where we take on the majority view because we accept that it is correct. Permanent external and internal change of behaviour

What is identification
A
A moderate type of conformity where we act in the same way as the group because we value and want the groups like. We don’t necessarily agree fully with the belief.

What is compliance
A
A superficial and temporary type of conformity, externally agree with majority opinion but internally disagree. Only change behaviour when monitored by the group.
