Q

What is the function of the Axon?

A

It’s the part of the cell that the electrical signals travel on. Also, it’s long so it increases the distance that electrical signals can travel.

Q

What’s the purpose of the myelin sheath?

A

This sheath made of myelin surrounds the axon of a nerve cell which stops the electrical signals from leaking out of the cell. This increases the speed of transmissions of the signals.

Q

What’s the purpose of the dendrites?

A

They’re the branches of a nerve cell. They spread outwards from the cell to transfer messages to other neurons. The messages travel between neurons at synapses.
