Q

What are the two types of bones?

A

compact and spongy
compact bone is made osteons runing the entire length of the diaphysis
-good with standing forms
-hold muscles
-has haversian system (includes haversian canals that run parallel to bone & volkmann’s channels - perpendicular to haverisian system)
-lamellae (rings)

Spongy done

  • found in the epiphyses of compact bone
  • more at the joint
  • withsand all forces including compression
