What is a blanket Aircraft Type rating?
A rating endorsed on a pilot license that entitles the pilot to fly any aircraft described.
Ex: On a PPL it may say “All single pilot non-high performance, single engine land aeroplanes”
What is an idividual type rating?
Required for AC that are not included in a blanket type rating. Type ratings are indicated by an AC Type Designator endorsed on the pilot license.
What is the definition of a High Performance Aircraft?
- Min Flight Crew req of one pilot
- Vne of 250kt or greater
and/or - Vso of 80kt or greater

In determining if an AC is high performance, what two sources do you need to make sure you dont get mixed up?
The TC website may list an aircraft as Min Crew of 1 but your company required 2. Go with what TC says.
What do you need to get a High Performace Type Rating?
- At least 200 hrs of total flight time
- A ground and flight course acceptable to the minister on that AC type
- Within the 12 months preceding the application for the type rating, perform a qualifying flight under the supervision of a TC Inspector

If an AC requires a minimum of two pilots, what are their roles and what ratings do they need?
PIC (Captain) must have ATPL and a type rating
SIC (FO) must have at least a CPL and type rating
What do you need to get a type rating on an AC with an MFC of two pilots?
How many hours of total flight time do you need to write your IATRA (which allows you to fly as an FO on a two crew AC)
250 (+ the IATRA passed) to be hireable in mose jobs
How often is the Pilot Proficience check (PPC) completed for a type rating?
Every 12 months
