Causes
A
Body can produce insulin but their cells don’t respond to it
Most common in those overweight/obese/ less active
Risk factors : lack of physical activity, high fat/sugar/salt diet
High blood pressure & cholesterol, smoking

Symptoms
A
Develops gradually, patients may experience in increased thirst, frequent urination, hunger, fatigue, blurred vision
If left untreated - increased risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, eye problems, nerve damage, skin/foot problems

Treatments
A
Balanced diet, exercise program, no smoking, weight loss
No cure
begin taking anti-diuretic medication before continuing insulin injections
