Over production of thyroxine leads to an enlarged thyroid gland
Graves’ disease (autoimmune disorder)
Excess iodine

Symptoms
A
Whole body: sweating, hunger, fatigue, heat intolerance
Hyperactivity, irritability, nervousness, panic attacks
Fast heart rate, palpitations
Insomnia
Protrusion of eyes, puffy

Treatment
A
Antithyroid agent - prevents thyroid gland from making/releasing thyroid hormone
Beta blocker - slows heart rate, decreases blood pressure, can reduce eye pressure when taken as eye drops
