Q
what is type 1 respiratory failure
A
low o2, normal CO2 (hypoxic normocapneia)
PaO2 <8 kPa; PaCO2 Normal
2
Q
causes of type 1 respiratory failure
A
This is due to a ventilation- perfusion (V/Q) mismatch. The volume of air passing in and out of the lungs is comparatively smaller than the volume of blood perfusing the lungs.
associated with damage to lung tissue which prevents adequate oxygenation of the blood.
