TWMMS - Contrast Flashcards
“I am happy and sad”
The word “happy” has connotations of joy, being clam and relaxed. However the emotion “sad” has connotation of being upset and miserable. This contrast tells us how it’s complicated going from childhood to adulthood and how you have complex emotions. One one hand you feel joy and on the other you feel upset
“Homesick, free”
If you are “homesick” you’re missing your family and where you live. Where as if you feel “free” it suggests she feels liberated and independent. This contrast conveys how difficult it is to be away from home. On one hand it’s really good but on the other you have those negative feelings
“too blue swapped for a cool grey”
We associate “blue” with the colour of childhood and being positive, however “grey” is a fuller colour associated with becoming more mature. The difference between colours represent how you are different as you get older
