tutorials Flashcards
how warfarins effect might be increased
by other drugs like clarithromycin- less metabolism by P450 enzymes as competing for same site: also with age ie less GFR+ metabolism, and malnutrition (less plasma proteins)
INR
how long it takes blood to clot- its ratio, so if lower, it clots FASTER ie warfarin increases INR
why older ppl need lower dose than younger, and CNS drugs specifically
less liver and kidney ie less metabolism and excretion- also more senstiive to CNS drugs eg benzodiazepines
how drugs overdosed/underdosed
food intake (better on empty stoamch), fluid (helps with absorption), age (newborns and elderly less metabolism/excretion), NON-COMPLIANCE, other diseases like GI disorders (less absoprtion), nutrition
ACH in respiratory system mimicks what nerve
vagus
graph of effect of metacholine (muscarinic agonist) on airway resistance ie shape
sigmoid curve
what is GTN
organic nitrate ie produces NO to vasodilate
